Week beginning Monday 10 June 2019
Mum did a big shop before we left for Fiji and this is how much food she bought; we thought it was going to be too much but it turns out it was too little because by the last day of the passage we had not even a tiny fresh pea in sight (but we still had what Dad calls “junk food”.) At least we still had some canned fruit and we could always get fresh fruit and veg from the local market in the village in Fiji.
It was really calm at the start of the trip as you can see and it was almost pure blue water and sky with a few speckled clouds dotted here and there…
…but as it came to sunset (which was beautiful, of course) it started to get a little more bumpy; at least it wasn’t as bad as it was later in the passage.
Captain Underpants was the first movie we watched on the passage and it‘s one of my favourite movies, as well as Parent Trap, Honey I Shrank The Kids and Mary Poppins.
Hazel was trying to exercise along the way but she figured out the hard way that it is not as easy as it seems on a rocking boat in the open ocean.
Mum found a squid up on deck and we did a science class with it. We drew a picture of the squid and dissected it. The eyeballs were like little jelly balls. I thought it was disgusting, but Hazel and Mum thought it was cool.
